“The Big Give is an amazing opportunity for our community to come together to give, show our spirit, and demonstrate how big-hearted central Ohio is,” said Doug Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation. “Our local nonprofits deserve our support for all they do to strengthen our community. The Big Give is a community rally that helps those in need and supports many other causes in central Ohio.”
Donation Match offered for The Big Give Donation Event
In addition to the dollars donated by the community, The Columbus Foundation has brought together many of its own donors and partners to contribute an additional $1.3 million to the cause, which will match individual donations on a pro rata basis. That means that every donation made during this 24 hour philanthropic marathon will be boosted in size for the recipient nonprofit organizations. Additionally, all credit card processing feeds are 100% covered, which means that 100% of all donations go to charity.
The Northern New York Community Foundation announced Wednesday it will match up to $20,000 of civilian donations to the North Country Honors the Mountain monument project.
The project, expected to be unveiled in July 2016 in Thompson Park’s Tower Square, has a fundraising goal of $400,000. Foundation Executive Director Rande S. Richardson said he hopes the matching grant will get locals excited about reaching that goal.
“The focus of our matching grant is really to be part of the citizen-level campaign,” he said. “We feel that this is an important way to engage members of the community at a grass-roots level. The 10th Mountain Division has been an important part of the community and they are our neighbors.”
